SCWA logoThe 15 July Southern California Writers Association meeting features crime novelist Joe Ide speaking on “Writing a Critically-Acclaimed Novel.”

Joe Ide grew up in South Central Los Angeles. His favorite books were the Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories; the idea that a person could face the world and vanquish his enemies with just his intelligence fascinated him. Joe went on to earn a graduate degree and had several careers before writing his debut novel, IQ, inspired by his early experiences and love of Sherlock.

The meeting takes place at the Claim Jumper restaurant on 18050 Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley. Doors open at 9:30 and the program begins at 10:00. Tickets are $25 for members, $35 for non-members ($30 with a reservation), and include a buffet lunch. Check the SCWA website for more information.
