SCWA: Paul Marks, “How to Write Short Stories Using Screenwriting Techniques,” 15 Dec 2018

SCWA logoThe 15 December Southern California Writers Association meeting features Shamus Award-winning mystery-thriller author Paul Marks speaking about using screenwriting techniques to enhance your short stories.

Paul’s short story “Windward” has been selected for the Best American Mystery Stories of 2018, edited by Louise Penny & Otto Penzler, and has also been nominated for both a 2018 Shamus Award and a Macavity Award for Best Short Story. Ghosts of Bunker Hill was voted #1 in the 2016 Ellery Queen Readers Poll. He is co-editor of the multi-award-nominated anthology Coast to Coast: Private Eyes from Sea to Shining Sea.

The meeting takes place at the Claim Jumper restaurant on 18050 Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley. Doors open at 8:30 and the program begins at 9:00. Tickets are $25 for members, $35 for non-members ($30 with a reservation), and include a buffet breakfast. Check the SCWA website for more information.
