Lance will be the moderator for the OCPL Foothill Ranch Library’s writers’ retreat on 6 October at 10 a.m. Also, Burt is scheduled to speak to the library’s book club in May of next year.
The final Kean Coffee LIT UP! happened on 21 August. The short story-oriented program featured PFL’s Steve Jackson, Anne Moose, and long-time PFL member and LIT UP! impressario Maddie Margarita. Many thanks to Kean Coffee for their four years of support for LIT UP!

[NOTE: Corrected to connect writer presentations to the writers’ retreat vs. Talk it Up.] Maddie alerted us to two different programs sponsored by the OCPL Foothill Ranch Library:
- Talk it Up! lets readers and authors get together to talk about the books they’ve read and to meet other readers. No reservations are required. This event runs at 1-2:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month.
- A monthly writers’ retreat meets at 10-4 on the first Saturday of every month. It provides a comfortable, calm space with available wifi and refreshments for writers to work away from distractions. An author is invited each month to give a presentation about writing to other attendees. For more information, contact Stella Carruth.
The Foothill Ranch Library is located at 27002 Cabriole in, natch, Foothill Ranch. Visit the library’s website for schedules and more information.

Casey mentioned that Binge Mode, a podcast on The Ringer website, is deconstructing the plot mechanics of the entire Harry Potter series of novels, starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Binge Mode has recently given this treatment to Game of Thrones, Solo, and other recent films.
Glenda said that two complete podcasting suites will be given away during this Saturday’s SCWA meeting featuring Mark Sevi. This includes a USB audio interface, mixer, microphone, headphones, professional audio software (downloadable) and more.
